Landscaping is a must for public areas especially those with high foot traffic. The small details in these projects can very often lead to big differences in bringing new life to an area. Yakka Group was contracted to spruce up the aesthetics at the University of Sydney.

The scope of the project included:

  • Excavation of damaged existing pavers
  • Maintenance on existing vegetation
  • Installation of monolithic blocks

This project was treated with great passion and care as the University of Sydney holds many beautiful buildings with long histories. Having the opportunity to add to such an already beautiful landscape was something we did not take lightly and worked meticulously to ensure the project was carried out appropriately.

Formwork is one of Yakka Group’s most frequent trades. Having required formwork for several footpaths, ramps, and stairs, the clients at Chatswood Primary had contracted Yakka Group to complete these tasks.

After marking up and budgeting the project, Yakka began on the project adhering to the following:

  • Site establishment and related permits
  • Formwork for all noted areas (Footpaths, ramps, stairs)
  • Supply of reo for reinforcement
  • Pouring and leveling of concrete

The project required quick mobilization as time was a limiting factor, with the project having to be completed before the end of school holidays. The experienced team at Yakka was capable of adjusting to the given time constraints and completed the project successfully whilst maintaining a tight budget.

Remedial work is a must in order to ensure buildings are properly maintained and not defected. The Yakka remedial team are capable of providing remedial solutions for all types of problems. At the University of Sydney, there was a set of stairs and attached blockwork wall that were on the verge of collapsing.

In order to prevent this, Yakka Group was contracted to:

  • Demolish existing staircase and attached wall
  • Reinforce and epoxy side of building
  • Pour new concrete slab for base of staircase
  • Form new set of stairs with bondek on top
  • Supply and install concrete for new set of stairs
  • Install new blockwork wall to encase stair

Careful planning was necessary throughout the project to ensure that works we carried out safely. Inductions of all workers we carried out and safety was constantly highlighted as our top priority. It is through these methods that work was carried out safely and efficiently.
